Whether you are building a brand new house, fixing one up, or preparing for a total rebuild, there are certain procedures to follow to ensure you end up with a high-quality product that adheres to building codes and meets client expectations. Over the past year and a half, educators worldwide have had to scramble to put together floor plans to address a variety of student needs in virtual environments. While the floor plans have differed in delivery formats (asynchronous, synchronous, or blended), the ultimate goal of providing a high-quality learning experience for students has continued to be the main focus. Quality course design, like building a house, involves working together with a team of individuals who are considered experts in their field. The process of building new courses and/or revising older versions of a course is very similar to the process of building, remodeling, or totally rebuilding a home.

In this session, we will discuss options that are available for building and designing high-quality digital learning experiences for students that address usability for all types of instructional settings. We will discuss how schools and districts and administrators can start with the awesome instructional design work that has been done over the past year and a half, supplement that work with a variety of open educational resources that address equity and usability, and leverage the learning management system and online tools.
